About Alpha Security Forum
Community safety, unity, and innovation — since 2023.
Our Story
The Alpha Security Forum was born when a group of dedicated individuals from the Ridgefield Security Estate Gatekeepers banded together to take community safety beyond the estate boundaries. What started as a local initiative quickly expanded, attracting more volunteers eager to make a difference across a wider area. This spirit of collaboration led to Alpha becoming the CPF (Community Policing Forum) for Sector One of Garsfontein and, ultimately, the central network supporting the entire Garsfontein SAPS precinct.
Today, Alpha Security Forum connects all active security companies in the region, uniting neighbourhood patrollers, professional responders, medical personnel, and SAPS members from both Garsfontein and Silverton. We work hand in hand with our sister forums—Old East Safety Forum, Silver Lakes Security Forum, and Welriet Community Service—placing Alpha at the heart of community safety operations in Pretoria East.
Tragedy and challenge shaped us: from incidents that affected loved ones to persistent crime trends that forced us to innovate, map, and outthink criminal threats. Today, Alpha Security Forum is a recognised example of how ordinary people can achieve extraordinary safety outcomes through teamwork and courage.

Our Mission
Our vision is to build a safe, united society where everyone can truly thrive. We believe in transcending our differences, focusing instead on the shared values and collective security that bind us together. Through genuine solidarity—among neighbors and across entire communities—we demonstrate how unity can create real, lasting change, turning the ideal of a safer, more connected society into a daily reality.
Our Approach
- Engagement: Regular community meetings and workshops.
- Partnership: Working closely with SAPS, private security, and sister forums.
- Innovation: Tech, mapping, and real-time intelligence sharing to preempt threats, and respondign as the community for the community.
What We've Achieved
Effective Interventions
Cleared green areas, prevented poaching, and assisted SAPS with intelligence leading to arrests and convictions. Notably, intelligence-led operations have resulted in the apprehension of suspects involved in armed robberies targeting cyclists and joggers in the area.
Unified Response
Led multi-forum patrols, achieved the first successful N4 spiking arrest in eight years, and built trust between neighbourhoods. Collaborative efforts with sister forums like the Old East Safety Forum and Silver Lakes Security Forum have strengthened regional security networks.
Community Impact
Organized fundraisers, supported local businesses, and encouraged direct resident involvement—fostering a real sense of unity. Initiatives like the Community Upliftment Precinct (CUP) focus on fixing potholes, repairing streetlights, and cleaning green spaces, enhancing overall community well-being.
Proactive Crime Prevention
Issued timely warnings about rising house burglaries in Pretoria East, urging residents to be vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly. Emphasized the importance of immediate communication with security groups, CPFs, and SAPS to ensure swift responses to incidents.
Technological Integration
Embraced innovative strategies by leveraging technology and strategic planning to address security challenges dynamically. Initiatives such as the Color-Coded Matrix for Escalation and the 'Eyes and Ears' program empower residents to actively participate in crime prevention efforts.
